Wanju Boodjah - Welcome to Country

Wanju Boodjah is a unique opportunity to learn about Noongar people and culture on Noongar land. It explores Noongar identity and Boodjah (land), Mort (family) amnd Kadidjiny (knowledge). It engages with important issues facing Noongar people and contemporary expressions of Noongar culture. Students will take field trips to sites of significance, meet Elders and community members. This unit's critical framework is taken from Noongar and Indigenous life-writing and scholarship and its intersections with non-Indigenous writing about Aboriginal people.

Enrolment by permission of the Unit Co-ordinator only. This unit will incur an additional fee. The additional fee includes but is not limited to travel, accommodation, meals, facilities hire and field trip components.

Photographs and a commentary of the opening ceremony of Wanju Boodjah 2011 are available on our news and cultural events page.
