Kulbardi hosts historic meeting

Kulbardi recently hosted an historic meeting of Aboriginal and African women. The First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Dr Patience Goodluck Jonathon, and key women from her entourage met with local indigenous women, including respected Aboriginal elder Irene Stainton. Topics of social justice and social equity were discussed.

Collaborative Research Success for Kulbardi Staff

Kulbardi celebrates the arrival of a unique table

A unique, hand burnt table was recently presented to the Kulbardi Centre in a special ceremony which also celebrated the opening of a new meeting room at Kulbardi. Guests from Murdoch University as well as staff and students from Central Institute of Technology attended the ceremony which was followed by a light lunch.

Visit by Chinese students from Zhejiang University

Kulbardi hosted a study tour and cultural exchange program with Murdoch's sister university in China, the Zheijiang University of Technology. The 30 students were welcomed to Kulbardi by the Director, Professor Rhonda Marriott who delighted them with a "hands-on" presentation on Aboriginal Culture.

Wanju Boodjah

The 2011 Wanju Boodjah program, which celebrates Nyungar culture and community, has been launched at Murdoch's Kulbardi Aboriginal Centre. The course is the only one of its kind in Western Australia.

Murdoch University is launching a new course designed to encourage Indigenous people to follow careers in science. It is hoped the new program will increase Indigenous employment, particularly in the resources sector.
