About the Kulbardi Aboriginal Centre

Kulbardi is located on the grounds of Murdoch University’s main campus and also has an office and study facilities on the Rockingham campus.

Kulbardi offers: 

  • educational pathways, via pre-tertiary enabling programs, into undergraduate studies
  • one-on-one tutorial support for Indigenous students (under the ITAS scheme)
  • friendship and cultural strength in a safe, supportive and friendly environment
  • cultural leadership for the University.

One of  Kulbardi's main objective is to encourage increased participation in tertiary education by Indigenous students through its innovative enabling courses,  K-Track and  Kulbardi Wangkiny (Pre-Media).

  What does 'Kulbardi' mean?

'Kulbardi' is the Noongar word for 'magpie'. The name was given to the Centre by the late Munyari (Elder Ralph Winmar). It is the name 'Kulbardi' that inspired our motto 'wings to fly'.
